A knockout weekend at the Beacon
It was a weekend to remember at the Beaconof Light as we hosted our firstever boxing event. A sold-out event saw 1,400 people cheer on ‘one of our own’ as Sunderland’s Josh Kelly picked up a thirdround win against Placido Ramirez in the main event.
Unique partnership creates new opportunities for students
As part of a unique collaboration with the University of Sunderland, the Beacon of Light will become a sports hub for all students.

Josh Kelly will now face Colombian KO artist Placido Ramirez at the Beacon. Sunderland fan Josh Kelly’s fight at the Beacon of Light on December 16 has had an opponent change.

The Beacon are working with Salvation Army’s Angel Tree initiative to help provide Christmas gifts to hundreds of thousands of underprivileged children this Christmas.
