Beacon to host Remembrance Day Fan Zone for Heroes' Week
The Beacon of Light will host a dedicated Remembrance Day Fan Zone ahead of Sunderland AFC’s match against Coventry City.
The Beacon of Light’s Yard Nine café is giving their support to the Foundation of Light’s Community Club teams.
Yard Nine have taken the opportunity to become the front of shirt sponsor on the new Foundation Community Club (FCC) Hummel home kits.
Foundation Community Club teams give young players a chance to become part of a squad, train weekly, and play organised competition in the Russell Foster Youth League.
Foundation Community Clubs are financially independent from Foundation of Light, but they carry the branding of SAFC’s official charity and are strictly governed by a committee to ensure good standards are upheld in coaching and organisation.
With a change in kit supplier ahead of the 2024/25 season came a fresh sponsorship opportunity to support the FCCs. Yard Nine have taken the chance to have visibility across Sunderland with 31 teams playing at different venues home and away every Saturday morning.
Foundation Community Club secretary, and coach of the FCC U15s side, Jamie Wilson said: “We are really proud to have Yard Nine’s support for the new season.
“Players across our FCC teams will love having a logo on the front of their kits, it makes them feel more like a proper football club. It’s the first time in a few years that we have had a front of shirt sponsor, so that’s a nice feeling for them.”
Yard Nine opens daily for both Beacon of Light users and anyone passing by in need of a pit stop, a leisurely lunch, or a spot to catch up with friends.
What sets Yard Nine apart from other coffee shops, is that all profits will directly support the Foundation of Light, the charitable arm of Sunderland AFC.
