Team Sunderland’s Big Day at the Beacon

All students are invited to the Beacon of Light to join in Team Sunderland’s Big Day at the Beacon!

Following the exciting news of the collaboration between University of Sunderland and Beacon of Light making the Beacon a hub for all students, Team Sunderland have organised their ‘Big Day at the Beacon’ as the official launch party of the collaboration.

The event is free to attend and will run from 11.00am–3.00pm on Wednesday 31 January.

Students from University of Sunderland are welcome to come and discover the facilities available at the Beacon while taking part in a wide range of activities on offer such as racket sports, Football, American Football, gaming consoles, Inflatables and much more!

The open day will have a wide range of activities, including:

Gaming competition on our big screen

Inflatables in the indoor arena

Badminton

Table tennis

Half-court Basketball

Half-court Netball

Football sessions on our outdoor 3G pitches

American football in our indoor 4G barn

Touch rugby in our indoor 4G barn

Mini fayre in classroom

Beacon of Light General Manager, Jemma Dowson, said: “Team Sunderland’s Big Day at the Beacon will be an exciting opportunity to introduce ourselves properly to students and show them everything we have to offer. It promises to be a great day with all of the activities we have planned”

The new partnership will help ensure that the University’s student community has easy access to high quality sports provision wherever in Sunderland they live, play or study by giving them access to the wide range of activities based at the Beacon of Light.
