Introducing Beacon of Light Membership
Supporters and the local community can now get even more from every visit to the Beacon of Light with the launch of Beacon of Light Membership.
People in Sunderland will soon have another safe place to talk, as Sunderland Samaritans begin hosting regular drop-in sessions at the new Health Hub based in the Beacon of Light.
Located at the rear of Street Level inside the Beacon of Light, the Health Hub is a dedicated space offering a range of health-focused support services for the community.
The new partnership with the Samaritans will provide a welcoming, confidential environment for anyone who may need someone to listen.
The first drop-in session will take place on Thursday 12 March from 12pm–4pm, with sessions continuing monthly during the day.
To make the service accessible for people who may not be available during working hours, an evening drop-in session will also launch on Thursday 23 April from 5pm–9pm, which will also run on a monthly basis.
Visitors can simply pop in during the session times, there is no appointment required.
Experienced Samaritans volunteers will be on hand to offer a listening ear in a safe, supportive and completely confidential setting, free from judgement.
The Health Hub at the Beacon of Light aims to make wellbeing support easier to access within the community, bringing together organisations that can help people look after both their physical and mental health.

Beacon of Light proudly hosted a welcome for Peter Stewart, a primary school head teacher from Manchester who is walking over 1,000 miles between all 20 Premier League stadiums.
Our ‘Girls Football Showcase’ will take place from 11:30am until 1:30pm on Sunday 29 March, offering a range of pre-match activities before The Lasses kick off at the Stadium of Light at 2pm.
