Yard Nine sponsors Foundation of Light's Community Clubs
The Beacon of Light’s Yard Nine café is giving their support to the Foundation of Light’s Community Club teams.
Foundation of Light Chairman Sir Bob Murray was present at the Beacon of Light on Friday to launch a special Shirt Tile to commemorate 50 years since Bob Stokoe's Sunderland won the 1973 FA Cup.
The Black Cats defeated the mighty Leeds United to lift the famous trophy for a second time, and courtesy of the official charity of Sunderland AFC, fans and businesses alike can get their hands on the cup final winning jersey.
Our Shirt Tiles display, which is inspired by former Sunderland retro shirt designs, is situated in the main foyer of the Beacon of Light.
The tiles proudly sport the logo of business sponsors, generating great awareness for businesses throughout the region. Tiles are also a great way to support the local community – allowing the Foundation of Light to continue to help our communities to live happier and healthier lives.
Fans can also be part of Wearside folklore, with the 1973 red and white Shirt Tile available for £973 plus VAT. Find out more about our stunning designs here.
Another tribute dedicated to Stokoe's heroes at the Beacon is the 73 Steps, and now the class of 73 have been rewarded with their very own – reciting the words ‘Sunderland AFC’s 1973 FA Cup Winners’.

The Beacon of Light will host a dedicated Remembrance Day Fan Zone ahead of Sunderland AFC’s match against Coventry City.
Baroness Estelle Morris of Yardley, a trustee of Sunderland AFC’s official charity, took part in the conference and called the Beacon ‘a fantastic building’ adding that ‘what happens here is absolutely key.’
