Foundation of Light Day
When Sunderland AFC hosted QPR at the Stadium of Light, the club hosted Foundation of Light Day, the biggest fundraising event of the calendar. The game showcased the ‘Heart On Your Sleeve’ campaign.

Fausto Coppa is no longer operating at the Beacon. However, we still have a limited service for customers to get their hot drinks and refreshment fix. Watch this space for our brand-new food and drinks offering in the next few weeks...
Design a Ball Competition
After the winner of the design a ball competition was announced, a limited number of balls will be available to buy from Beacon reception with all money going to Foundation of Light’s ‘Heart on Your Sleeve’ campaign. The football will also be used during the half-time pitch activities during Foundation of Light Day.
Red Sky Ball
We hosted the amazing Red Sky Foundation on Friday 22 March for their annual Red Sky Ball where they raised an outstanding £200,000 for a great cause.
Movie nights
Our regular weekly family movie nights on our big screen will continue throughout March. Not only is it free, but all attendees will also receive a free hot chocolate, thanks to funding from Premier League Fans Fund.
East Holiday Courses
Foundation of Light holiday courses kick-off on Tuesday 2 April and there’s something happening on each day of the two-week break from football to slime club
The Beacon of Light’s Yard Nine café is giving their support to the Foundation of Light’s Community Club teams.
The Beacon of Light will host a dedicated Remembrance Day Fan Zone ahead of Sunderland AFC’s match against Coventry City.
Baroness Estelle Morris of Yardley, a trustee of Sunderland AFC’s official charity, took part in the conference and called the Beacon ‘a fantastic building’ adding that ‘what happens here is absolutely key.’
