The Beacon of Light’s Yard Nine café is giving their support to the Foundation of Light’s Community Club teams.
October has seen a busy month at the Beacon of Light so far with a wide range of fantastic sessions, and no sign of slowing down.
Sir Bob Murray’s book release - ‘I’d Do It All Again’, the autobiography of former Sunderland AFC Chairman, Sir Bob Murray, has officially launched for sale. The book is available to buy online at www.sirbobmurraybook.com and in-person from the Beacon of Light and SAFC stores
Visits from SAFC players - Pierre Ekwah returned to the Beacon to help pupils from St Mary’s School cook up some tasty fajitas in our Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food kitchen
Show Racism the Red Card - Sunderland AFC players Jay Matete and Jenson Seelt visited the Beacon of Light ahead of Show Racism the Red Card’s ‘Wear Red Day’, an annual campaign aiming to raise awareness of the ongoing issue of racism within society and the importance of calling out or reporting racist abuse when witnessing it. We light up red On Friday 20 October to show our support of the cause
All new soft play and multi-sport sessions - Every Friday in October, visitors can come along to the Beacon for our ‘Friday Fun Days’ which will include a range of fun for all ages with out soft play multi-sports drop-in session. Click here for full info

Movie nights – Friday 27 October will see the return of the Beacon movie nights showing Hocus Pocus on our big screen. Followed by showing the new Haunted Mansion on Friday 3 November

The Beacon of Light will host a dedicated Remembrance Day Fan Zone ahead of Sunderland AFC’s match against Coventry City.
Baroness Estelle Morris of Yardley, a trustee of Sunderland AFC’s official charity, took part in the conference and called the Beacon ‘a fantastic building’ adding that ‘what happens here is absolutely key.’
