Yard Nine sponsors Foundation of Light's Community Clubs
The Beacon of Light’s Yard Nine café is giving their support to the Foundation of Light’s Community Club teams.
The Beacon of Light has welcomed a new addition that promises not only a delightful culinary experience, but will also have an impact on the local community.
'Yard Nine’ the brand-new café inspired by Sunderland's shipyards and rich industrial history, is set to open its doors later this week.
The name pays homage to the city’s shipbuilding traditions, with the Beacon of Light’s location situated by shipyard number nine of the 76 based along the River Wear.
With a locally-sourced menu, featuring a selection of sweet and savoury snacks and hot and cold beverages, Yard Nine is your new one-stop for a quick coffee break, a leisurely lunch, or a spot to catch up with friends.
What sets Yard Nine apart from other coffee shops, is that all profits will directly support the Foundation of Light, the charitable arm of Sunderland AFC.
The Foundation is dedicated to helping families stay physically and mentally active through sport and education, helping people to live happier and healthier lives.
Jemma Dowson, Beacon of Light's Head of Alturism said: "We are thrilled to announce the opening of Yard Nine within the Beacon of Light. We hope it will become a destination café and an inviting space for all occasions and we're really proud of its nod to the city's heritage.
“In addition, every sip of coffee and every bite of food enjoyed at Yard Nine will directly contribute to the Foundation of Light's efforts to support families across Sunderland."
The opening of Yard Nine marks another significant milestone in the ongoing commitment to invest in the Beacon of Light, following the upgrades made to the rooftop pitch this past winter.
