New community hub for eye checks gets ready for kick off
South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust has teamed up with the Beacon of Light to launch a new NHS Eye Imaging Hub.
This week the Beacon of Light will light up to raise awareness of a number of great causes.
On Friday 15 September, the Beacon will light up green in support of Myotonic Dystrophy.
In 2021 the charity held its first international awareness day, with over 40 monuments/venues lit up to support the day around the UK. This year they have monuments lighting up worldwide in support, including 20 venues in Australia!
They are wanting workplaces, schools, and private homes to support the event, and hoping this will be the biggest yet!
On Saturday 16 September, the Beacon will light up purple to help raise awareness of Craniosynostosis.
Each September Cranio Ribbons do something to raise awareness and this year landmarks throughout the UK will light up Purple, the colour of their charity.
Someone who holds Cranio Ribbons close to his heart, Paul McDonnell said “our son was born with the very rare condition.
Fortunately our son's condition was picked up at an early stage and underwent surgery at the age of 18month old. Thanks to the amazing specialist staff at Alder Hey hospital his is now fighting fit and playing Ice Hockey for Billingham Junior Stars U10s!
Throughout our ordeal leading up to the surgery we were supported by a Cranio Ribbons who support families pre and post-surgery.”
Come down this Friday and Saturday and see the Beacon of Light lit up in support of these amazing charities.
