Jewison Bennette makes dreams come true at Beacon

Sunderland teenage sensation Jewison Bennette surprised scores of children at the Beacon of Light on Thursday, embracing the various activities occurring throughout the day.

A fully fledged Costa Rica international, Bennette was greeted with smiles and high-fives, with everyone in attendance queuing up to get a glimpse of the talented winger.

The Beacon is always a hive of activity during the school break, with the Beacon witnessing hundreds of families and kids come through its doors once again.

For one individual though, it was a day they will never forget. Oscar Waddleton, 11, who was in awe of Bennette throughout, was treated to a game of FIFA against the Black Cats prodigy, defeating the Sunderland man in a closely fought contest.

With everyone engaging in the various activities on offer, Bennette visited the Beacon’s 4G Indoor Barn, much to the delight of everyone in attendance.

Future stars took to the pitch to hone their skills, showcasing their talents to Bennette, as the latter seized the opportunity to have a kickabout.

Bennette also embraced his inner Jimmy Montgomery, lining up between the sticks for a penalty shootout against the Foundation's Little Dribblers.

As the full-time whistle blew on an action-packed day, the Black Cats man posed for photos with fans before signing a host of merchandise.
