Organised by Young Asian Voices, hundreds of people and families enjoyed a free community and sports event at the Beacon, to celebrate Asian culture in Sunderland.
Hundreds of people and families enjoyed a day in the Beacon, thanks to a special event organised by Young Asian Voices in partnership with the Beacon of Light and Sunderland City Council.
The special 'Multisports and Community Event' offered families from across the city the chance to enjoy a range of free sports, activities and Asian food during half-term.
Ram, manager at Young Asian Voices, was delighted with the turnout for the first event of its kind "Today is about bringing communities together and organising lots of activities for young people to enjoy. It's about bringing friendship opportunities, diversity and culture together.
"It's been really, really good and I'm so pleased to see so many people come along and get involved. We're keen to hold another event and for it to continue into the future. It's been really successful - thank you to everyone who has helped put it on and bring it together."
Jamie Wright, managing director of the Foundation of Light said "We are delighted to host the Young Asian Voices event here in the Beacon today. It's been fantastic to see so many people and families having fun, with lots of different cultures coming together. We are proud to partner with Young Asian Voices and help bring all parts of our community together to live happier and healthier lives.
