Missed out on your favourite time slot?
Forgot to book footy for you and the lads on your preferred time?
Never miss the chance again with our ‘Watch Slot’ feature – a great addition to the Beacon of Light’s online booking system.
The feature has proven very popular with Beacon visitors especially during peak times, with in-demand spaces, including the rooftop pitch!
Over 5,000 people visit the Beacon each week, accessing the outdoor 3G pitches, indoor arena and 4G indoor barn to take part in sports, including football, netball, badminton and table tennis.
Make sure you’re ahead of the game to get your space and place using the online booking system.
The booking platform makes it much easier for customers to reserve spaces at the Beacon; with features allowing customers to see a full online calendar; block book up to 10-weeks in advance and utilise the new ‘waiting list’ feature, where a customer will be notified should a time slot they prefer become available.
Customers can also create an account to manage bookings, payments and preferences online, which wasn’t available previously.
The Beacon of Light opened in 2018; it was the first community hub of its kind in the UK, providing opportunities for all ages and abilities. It is a space for sport, events, education and wellbeing, open to everyone from all backgrounds.
What makes the Beacon extra special is that all proceeds from bookings are donated back to the Sunderland AFC's official charity, Foundation of Light, to support families across the region who need are struggling with the current cost of living crisis.

The Beacon of Light will host a dedicated Remembrance Day Fan Zone ahead of Sunderland AFC’s match against Coventry City.
Baroness Estelle Morris of Yardley, a trustee of Sunderland AFC’s official charity, took part in the conference and called the Beacon ‘a fantastic building’ adding that ‘what happens here is absolutely key.’
