Yard Nine sponsors Foundation of Light's Community Clubs
The Beacon of Light’s Yard Nine café is giving their support to the Foundation of Light’s Community Club teams.
June will mark a new chapter for the Beacon of Light, with the facility set to host its first ever Family Sports Drop-In session.
The Beacon will play host to a series of sports including badminton, table tennis, curling and boccia on 1 June, providing kids with the perfect opportunity to try new activities and meet new people.
Following the free hour-long activity which will take place from 4-5pm, attendees are invited to enjoy complimentary refreshments in our relaxing and informal Warm Space area.
Supported by Sunderland City Council, the Beacon’s Warm Space offers internet access as well as family friendly activities, while families can also take advantage of various resources including information to different Foundation of Light programmes.
Jemma Dowson, Head of Events at the Foundation, said: “This is a great opportunity for young people and their families to visit the Beacon and experience new activities.
“Our Sports Drop-In session is open to all ages and we’re encouraging the local community to get involved and see what the Beacon has to offer.”

The Beacon of Light will host a dedicated Remembrance Day Fan Zone ahead of Sunderland AFC’s match against Coventry City.
