Inclusive Walking Netball Camp coming to Beacon of Light
England Netball North East is hosting a Walking Netball Camp at the Beacon of Light on Monday 17 February.
Beacon of Light welcomes Sunderland's groundbreaking inclusion in the Music Cities Network, a global not-for-profit that champions the economic and social power of music to transform cities.
Sunderland joins major cultural hubs like Berlin, Sydney, and Valencia, becoming the first UK city outside of Manchester within the network.
As one of a diverse range of venues within Sunderland’s thriving music scene, Beacon of Light has hosted varied artists, from the internationally acclaimed Jason Donovan and The Overtones, to homegrown superstars such as Emeli Sandé and The Lake Poets.
Beacon of Light has also provided a platform for emerging talents, from performers in Matchday Fan Zones to local standout Caleb Adams, who wowed the audience as the opening act of Foundation of Light’s Gala Awards Dinner.
The Music Cities Network membership opens exciting opportunities for Sunderland to collaborate with global partners, sharing ideas to foster cultural, social, and economic development.
To mark this achievement, the city will launch a Year of Music starting on World Music Day, 21 June 2025, featuring events and educational workshops celebrating its vibrant musical heritage.
Beacon of Light is looking forward to supporting the Year of Music and continuing to provide a platform for artists at every stage of their journey.
