Beacon to Light up red and white ahead of Foundation Matchday
The Beacon of Light will light up red and white this weekend in celebration of Foundation of Light’s 25th anniversary and the charity’s dedicated matchday.
The display will coincide with Wear Red and White Day on Friday 23rd October, when schools, businesses, organisations and supporters across the region are encouraged to show their support by wearing the club’s colours.
Joining the Beacon in displaying Sunderland AFC’s famous colours will be a number of iconic landmarks across the city and surrounding area, including the Northern Spire Bridge, Hylton Castle and Penshaw Monument, bringing communities together to mark this special milestone.
The weekend will also see Sunderland AFC’s fixture against Leeds United on Sunday 25th October dedicated to the Foundation of Light, recognising 25 years of making a difference across the North East.
Since its establishment in 2001, the Foundation of Light has worked to create opportunities, support individuals and families, and help people across the region build brighter futures. This weekend, the city will come together to celebrate 25 years of inspiring, supporting and changing lives through the power of football.
Fans can also join in the celebrations at the Beacon of Light’s free family Fan Zone before the match on Sunday, with a range of activities and entertainment to get the supporters in the matchday spirit from 2pm.
Parking update at the Beacon of Light
