Introducing Beacon of Light Membership
Supporters and the local community can now get even more from every visit to the Beacon of Light with the launch of Beacon of Light Membership.
The Beacon of Light brought the geektastic fun of Comic Con to Sunderland on Sunday, 1 September, hosting the city's first Comic Con Mania event.
Comic Con Mania fan conventions are a more compact, family-friendly version of the world-famous shows featuring traders, photo opportunities, and celebrities from the world of comic books, action films, and video games.
Superfans turned out dressed as their favourite characters, took photos at set builds based on Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Beetlejuice, and browsed the trader stalls featuring comic books, action figures, and memorabilia.
Star Wars actors Jimmy Vee and Paul Blake took to the stage for a question and answer panel and were on hand for autographs and photos with fans all day.

Taking to the stage afterwards was the cosplay competition, with the best-dressed winning tickets for the Comic Con North East event at the Utilita Arena.
Other attractions included the bouncy castles and retro gaming stations which included classic arcade games and consoles from the 1980s through to the early 2000s.
