Yard Nine sponsors Foundation of Light's Community Clubs
The Beacon of Light’s Yard Nine café is giving their support to the Foundation of Light’s Community Club teams.
Our FREE Community Fun Day at the Beacon of Light is back.
On Thursday 17th August, families will be entertained at the home of the Foundation of Light as our ever-popular community fun day returns to Wearside.
This year will be bigger and better than ever with some new additions and sponsored by GOGA, and if last year’s fun day was anything to go by, the residents of Sunderland are in for an experience to remember.
The local community will be spoiled for choice when entering the Beacon, with a comprehensive range of sporting activities on offer such as football, dodgeball and table tennis, and non-sporting activities such as cooking, robot coding and FIFA. Beacon of Light will also be hosting activities for those with a disability.
Speaking about the upcoming event, Foundation of Light Managing Director, Jamie Wright said: “This is a day we all look forward to at the Foundation as it's a chance to bring the community together. Children of all ages as well as families can come together for a day of fun and games.
"We have plenty of activities happening throughout the day but more importantly we have something for everyone. We can't wait to welcome hundreds of people through the doors at the Beacon of Light."
To bring the community together even further, attendees also will have the opportunity to take on our coaches in a variety of games.
Two big black cats will also be in attendance; however, the good news doesn’t stop there. As this is always a special occasion, we will be delighted to have a few special guests in attendance. Some of the stars from the Sunderland AFC will be making an appearance – engaging with the Sunderland community across a variety of fun-filled activities.
Food and drink will be available on the day with local vendors cooking up some of their classics.
All you have to do is turn up on the day and be ready to have loads of fun. The event will start at 10am and finish at 3pm.

The Beacon of Light will host a dedicated Remembrance Day Fan Zone ahead of Sunderland AFC’s match against Coventry City.
Baroness Estelle Morris of Yardley, a trustee of Sunderland AFC’s official charity, took part in the conference and called the Beacon ‘a fantastic building’ adding that ‘what happens here is absolutely key.’
