Yard Nine sponsors Foundation of Light's Community Clubs
The Beacon of Light’s Yard Nine café is giving their support to the Foundation of Light’s Community Club teams.
This week the Beacon was filled with the sound of country music as our Extra Time Hub took part in a very special Festive Line Dance.
Over 30 people took part in the special event, learning a simple routine led by a professional instructor and after an hour's dancing, those attending were treated to a festive buffet lunch.
The session is part of the Foundation of Light's Extra Time Hub, supported by ScS Sofas, which aims to tackle social isolation and improve the mental health of over 55's in the local community.
Over 80 people are supported through the Extra Time Hub, which meets each week on a Wednesday morning, and sees participants take part in a range of activities from quizzes and crafts, to gentle pilates, seated exercise and cooking.
The Extra Time Hub runs every Wednesday at the Beacon of Light from 10am to 12pm. New members do not need to pre-register and are welcome to turn up on the day. To find out more email keith.brazier@foundationoflight.co.uk or call 0191 563 4777.

The Beacon of Light will host a dedicated Remembrance Day Fan Zone ahead of Sunderland AFC’s match against Coventry City.
Baroness Estelle Morris of Yardley, a trustee of Sunderland AFC’s official charity, took part in the conference and called the Beacon ‘a fantastic building’ adding that ‘what happens here is absolutely key.’
