The Beacon of Light, home to Sunderland AFC’s official charity Foundation of Light, is set to host ‘Summer at the Beacon’ as the ever popular six-week programme returns to Wearside.
From 25th July – 2nd September, families will be entertained at the ultimate community hub, with activities on offer to people of all ages.
As well as a comprehensive range of football and multi-sport holiday courses, Summer at the Beacon features various new and exciting activities including:
· FIFA Tournament – Come and showcase your FIFA skills in a battle of the best E-Gamers! Take part in a Champions League style FIFA tournament.
· Girls Only Euro Celebration Day – A day dedicated just to girls to celebrate the UEFA European Women's Football Championship (Euro 2022).
· Junior Bakers – Bring your budding bakers to bake some tasty treats!
· Disability Family Time – Pick what activity you and your family want to do and leave the rest to us. Each slot is 45 minutes.
The Beacon will also be hosting a ‘FoL Community Fun Day’ on 11 August – a free event for all the family.
Speaking about the Summer at the Beacon campaign, Foundation of Light Managing Director, Jamie Wright said: “Summer at the Beacon is an incredibly popular event in Sunderland and we’re super excited to welcome hundreds of people through the doors at the Beacon of Light.
“We have loads going on, numerous activities on offer to people of all ages as well as a variation of activities to suit a wide-range of interests.
“This is a very important event to us here at the Foundation and we are determined to make it an unforgettable experience to everyone who attends. We can’t wait to reveal our plans and to showcase all of the fantastic activities that will be happening throughout the six-weeks holidays.”
Over the last 20 years Foundation of Light have supported over half a million people to live happier and healthier lives. By taking part in activities at the Beacon, you’re supporting your local community – proceeds from the Beacon are passed to the Foundation to improve local lives throughout the community.
